To reiterate what's already been said by so many people on this page, you're a truly outstanding educator, motivator, organizer, friend, and geek (or is it nerd? I remember Jimmy explaining the difference to me once, but it all seemed superficial at best). You've built something truly incredible at Durham Tech that has provided numerous students, such as myself, with better hands on experience than most academic programs the world over can boast. As I've said to you many times before, I'm in awe of your passion, your tireless drive, and your miraculous ability to organize a bunch of college students. I have personally gained a tremendous amount from knowing and working with you and the projects that you have led have helped me push myself to heights I had never thought possible. So happy 60th birthday NASA, and congratulations to you Julie for all your accomplishments. I look forward to staying tuned for all your future ones!

HAGS (Have a Great Science),

Ryan Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01917623865839529810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2182721315618472606.post-75143992304426115202018-11-05T11:47:55.651-05:002018-11-05T11:47:55.651-05:00Thank you! (What my baby wants, my baby gets.) So I have no doubts that you will earn your place there. But now that I know why you love NASA so much, my god if it isn't the most Julie thing I've ever heard. Super smart overachievers torturing themselves with insane, seemingly impossible tasks? Well, of course Julie would want to be there. I'm not sure why I needed you to spell that out for me, but thanks for the insight into your passion. You've helped shape so many minds and inspired a passion for STEM in so many. Keep spreading that passion, and your fans will always be here following you.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06537995500993534314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2182721315618472606.post-17687946262421152582018-11-02T09:17:28.119-04:002018-11-02T09:17:28.119-04:00Thanks for being one of my favorite bits of biomat...Thanks for being one of my favorite bits of biomatter! As a nontraditional student who began an academic career with great trepidation, they have shown me that it is never too late to dream or to push myself through great academic and professional challenges. It has also been my great pleasure to watch every team member get launched (pun intended) into challenging areas of science, technology, and academia all as a direct result of their work with The Unacceptable Risks. None of this would have been possible without Julie. She is a true educator. Unlike any professors that I've worked with, she cultivates a fun learning environment founded on creativity, relevant science and engineering challenges, and disciplined professionalism. We owe her and NC Space Grant more than we could repay and I am proud to have been a part of it all. I'm looking forward to the next great chapter. She's also a teacher who actually knows how to teach, and beyond that, inspires her students to explore careers in engineering and science that stretch their horizons.
