"Shhhhh. Shhhhh, David. We'll launch again."
I don't know how it happened but we managed to get together yesterday and plan another launch. We have a lot to do in the next 12 days to get a new payload off the ground but we're always up for the challenge.
We put together a list of tasks, scheduled a call, planned two build days, and picked a date. This time we'll need to use mostly materials we've sourced ourselves and some other things that have a short shelf life and needed to be used anyway. We are picking out a new launch location, trying to find a good out-of-pocket source for helium (or hydrogen) and possibly having a bake sale. (Kidding. Probably.)
The primary goal is to get all of the data we didn't get due to heat related system failures in April. Secondary goals include: getting Jimmy more bloon street cred and just having an excuse for the team to hang out.
We've made a friend at NC Near Space who is giving us some insider tips on a hobbyist launch and doing lots of research. It feels good to keep an eye on Windyty again. Yesterday Abandoned offered to write a two page report on the efficacy of hydrogen and I swooned a little. Then someone suggested we have a Google call and I got so excited I started blowing the whistle on the personalized lanyard I've been wearing since the launch in April.
